Having spent two months working in Niger during the 2010 food crisis and seeing the harrowing impact of malnutrition first hand, being asked to be involved in Save the Children’s nutrition campaign was a no brainer. My brief from Save the Children International was to identify three countries that highlighted different malnutrition issues and commission film, photography and interviews in these countries. After a lot of research and story scouting I proposed Tanzania, Pakistan and Brazil. I drew up the photo briefs, guide interview questions and the shooting scripts and commissioned the photographers and camera people. The results were great and the material used widely for the campaign.
Although the material gathered was for Save the Children International’s global nutrition campaign it also had to be relevant and pertinent for the country programme’s in country campaigning – a difficult balancing act to achieve!
